Trinity Christian School

The History of Trinity School

Trinity School opened in September, 1978. At that time, the school was situated in small premises in Mottram and consisted of seven pupils aged between five and seven with one member of staff. A year later the school moved to the Congregational Church school rooms in Stalybridge, a second class was established and another teacher employed.

In September, 1981, the school's third move was to Hyde Chapel's Sunday School building in Gee Cross. At that time the school expanded into Secondary Education and remained at Gee Cross for four years. In July 1985, the school was able to purchase a building for the first time, situated on Birbeck Street in Stalybridge. For 10 years, the whole school was based at this site. Numbers grew to over 100, offering education from age five through to sixteen, including preparation for public examinations.

In September 1995, the Birbeck Street building became the site for the Upper school, Years 6 -11, as another building became available situated in Silverthome Close, Stalybridge. This has proved very suitable for the lower school, covering Nursery to Year 6. The buildings are a short walk apart and we still regard the school as one unit.
