Citizenship

The Citizenship curriculum has been written to reflect SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Cultural and Cultural) guidelines. An integral part of each unit is the development of enquiry and attitudes which will help pupils to make choices in developing their lifestyle and equip them for the complexities of adult life.

Citizenship reflects the maturity and interests of the respective year group with an active approach. Within Citizenship lessons there is a focus on developing group work and discussion skills. The scheme of work aims to develop knowledge and understanding skills of enquiry alongside the skills of participation and responsible action.

Some examples of units of work are:

Law and Order

Democracy

Local Community Projects

Drugs Education

Human Rights

Careers and Work related learning
