Uncollected Child Policy: EYFS & Primary

Policy statement

The Primary Gate is opened at 2.55pm and Primary School Children (including those in the EYFS) are dismissed from school at 3.00pm. We ask that parents of Primary School Children arrive at school in time to collect their children at 3.00pm.

Parents who are unavoidably delayed MUST contact the school office by ringing 0161 303 0674 to report the delay before 3.00pm as the office closes after this.

In the event that a child is not collected by an authorised adult at the end of a school day, we will put into practice the following procedures. These are to ensure that all children are cared for safely by an experienced and qualified practitioner.

  1. In the event of a parent being detained and unable to collect their children by 3.10pm the class teacher will contact Parents and Emergency Contacts who should arrange pick up as soon as possible. Primary School teachers will only supervise uncollected children until 4.00pm and a charge of £10 for every uncollected child will be applied.
  1. After 4.00pm all uncollected children will be sent to the Headteacher or SLT for supervision. If contact has still not been made with Parents/Emergency Contacts, the Headteacher/SLT will again seek to make contact with Parent/Emergency Contacts.

The Headteacher/SLT can only supervise children until 5.00pm and a further charge of £10 for every uncollected child will be applied. (£20 in total for point 1 and 2).

  1. After 5.00pm and if we are unable to contact the Family/Emergency contact, the Headteacher/SLT will contact the Police and Social Services and act on their advice.

This Policy does not affect Secondary Age Pupils as they are allowed to make their own way home at the end of the School day
