Our Class Community

In Year 5 and 6, we cultivate a caring and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. As the oldest pupils in our school, our children take pride in being positive role models, demonstrating kindness, respect, and responsibility throughout the school community.

Rooted in our Christian ethos, we encourage spiritual growth through Bible teaching, worship, and living out the Fruit of the Spirit in our daily interactions. Our pupils are nurtured to grow academically, spiritually, and socially—developing independence, resilience, and confidence in preparation for the exciting transition to secondary school.

We offer a rich and varied curriculum enhanced by outdoor learning experiences, leadership opportunities, and creative enrichment activities. Whether exploring nature, leading collective worship, or collaborating on class projects, Year 5 and 6 pupils thrive in a setting where faith, learning, and character come together.

A Faith-Filled Environment

Faith is at the heart of all we do. Through daily prayer, collective worship, Bible teaching and moments of reflection, children are given the opportunity to grow spiritually and deepen their understanding of Christian values. We explore how faith guides our actions, shapes our relationships, and inspires us to care for others and the world around us.

A Rich and Varied Curriculum

In Year 5 and 6, we follow the National Curriculum, providing a broad and balanced education that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. While we ensure our pupils meet and exceed age-related expectations, we have made the intentional decision not to participate in national SATs testing. This allows us to focus on the individual needs of each child, nurturing deep understanding and a genuine enjoyment of learning—free from unnecessary pressure.

Our topics are rich and engaging—ranging from The Stone Age and The Victorians to the study of inspiring authors such as Michael Rosen, C.S. Lewis, and Michael Morpurgo.

Children enjoy a wide variety of learning experiences, including Spanish lessons, which help them develop confidence in language skills and a greater awareness of the wider world. Our curriculum is further enriched through educational visits, gardening, and outdoor learning opportunities, allowing pupils to connect their learning to the world around them.

Together, these experiences support both academic progress and personal growth as children prepare for the next stage of their education.
